MSC‐E continues following the activities of the scientific and policy making communities aimed at support and development of the Minamata Convention on Mercury. In particular, the Centre presented the new research results and participated in discussion of the topical issues related to Hg pollution on a global scale at the 14th International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant held in Krakow, Poland in September 2019. Besides, various aspects of Hg pollution on both hemispheric and global scales are a subject of discussion within the Task Force on Hemispheric Transport of Air Pollutants (TF HTAP). Closer integration of the relevant activities within TF HTAP and the Minamata Convention could facilitate resolving the Hg pollution problem both in the EMEP region and on a global scale.
